As every year the eco-park Xcaret, hosts the Sacred Mayan Journey from May 17-19. This is an event where the Mayan canoeists head to Cozumel, reenacting the ritual of the ancient sailors. Dance, ceremonies, commerce and the physical effort of the oarsmen are key elements of the pilgrimage in search of the message that stems from the oracle of the goddess Ixchel.
